Dubstep pioneer DJ Distance unleashes his groundbreaking, critically acclaimed 'Closer Than You Think' E.P. Broken beats, dark pads and speaker shaking bass riffs merge to create four distinctive tracks that encapsulate the Distance Dubstep sound. The History Behind the E.P. DJ Distance (Distance) was first recognised as a talent by Sting Recordings co-owner Peter Litchfield, also of Beatfreaks fame. While the scene at the time wasn't ready to embrace such a dark, heavy sound, Litchfield knew the moment he heard 'Shiverz' and 'Breathing Space' that Distance would be huge. Despite lack of interest from those Litchfield played the demo to, along with partner Hindzy D, he went ahead and pressed 'Closer Than You Think', Distance's first label release. The E.P. sold slowly, and few more than 500 copies flew out the door, leaving Sting to just about cover costs. However, the E.P. did accumulate radio play, and subsequently gained Distance respect and recognition from key industry figures. In the prevailing two years Distance grew in popularity, becoming a pioneer of the Dubstep sound. Distance released his first album, 'My Demons' in January 2007 on Planet Mu records. He also founded the record label Chestplate in the same year. A second album 'Repercussions' followed in 2008, 'Closer Than You Think has become a classic, "must have" Dubstep E.P, by one of the original pioneers of the UK sound. All four tracks still receive heavy play on a global scale, still sounding as fresh among today's new releases as they did when the E.P. was first released in 2004. No Dubstep collection is complete without these classics.
