"Somewhere To Go" is my first recording. The lyrics and music exemplify where I was at that time in my life. I just turned 22 years old, and I realized that music was everything to me. I recorded this record in the fall of '99 at Mirror Image Studios in Gainesville, FL, with the help of producer Ronnie Cates. I was lucky enough to have some amazing musicians on this record. Tom Hurst, Jeff Coffey, Jack Sizemore, Dave Lasman, Matt Collins, Matt Creswell, Jennifer Wiertzema, my mom and my sister helped make this record really special. After recording this record, my sister Beth started to perform live with me, logging many miles throughout the Southeast, playing in bars, coffee shops, listening rooms and festivals. In August of 2000, I traveled to Lyons, CO to attend the Rocky Mountain Song School and Folks Festival. Experiencing this gathering of singers, songwriters and musicians changed my life by inspiring me to become more serious about my music, leading me to Nashville, TN...Music City! I convinced my sister to move there with me, and while she received her music business degree at Belmont University, I immersed myself in the music culture the city had to offer, writing and performing as much as I could. While living in Nashville, Beth and I recorded another CD, "...after the rain", in the fall of 2001. Music has taught me a lot about myself over the years. What I have learned is that music and life are pretty much one and the same for me. As I look forward in anticipation to where my music may take me, I realize that I must also look back to where I started. Since this first record, I have recorded four other albums, played on other musicians records, toured all over the country, and landed in Colorado, where I make my home today. From this vantage point (and elevation), I look back fondly on this record, and I am proud of the first songs I wrote and recorded. This has prompted me to re-mix (Jim Gilmour, Southview Arts, Middletown Springs, VT), re-master (David Glasser, Air Show Mastering, Boulder, CO), and re-design (Amy Fortunato), "Somewhere To Go". It has been over five years since this first record, and there have been many people that have supported and helped me along the way. I am grateful to all of you.
