Hi, thanks for stopping by to check out my CD. If you found yourself here then you may already know me, my name is Dan O'Connor. I have a Website called DanoSongs.com where every week I send out free MP3s from myself or another artist that I like. My guess is that you are open minded musically since most people don't seek out new music. If that is the case then we have something in common! I love to create and discover really good music in all kinds of styles. I am not afraid to try something new. That's how this CD called "Guitar, Lyrics and Cut-ups" was put together. Its an eclectic mix of rock, acoustic, pop, alternative and techno songs that I recorded over a 20 year period. That's where the "Cut-ups" part of the title comes into play. There are points in the album that are rocking, and moments that are romantic. Then there are some really fun dance tunes as well as thoughtful quirky experiments. The "Guitar and Lyrics" part of the title is because at the core of every track is a very simple song, with lyrics that mean something and basic chords that I wrote on guitar. Over time I was able to record those simple songs in a variety of ways with dozens of talented people. I had to be very picky to narrow this down to 15 full-length tracks! Then you will what I mean when I say I like to experiment with various instruments as well as work with different bands and producers. Some songs just came together effortlessly, and others needed so many takes that it was frustrating. But looking back now it has all been very exciting and interesting! One of the things that I am very passionate about is going with the flow of life, and that includes working with new technology instead of against it. Nowhere is this more applicable that with ripping and burning CDs and sharing MP3s.
