Pianist and ASCAP composer, Julie Rivers, is owner of EarthStar Recordings/Publications, LLC. A native Texan, she graduated in piano performance from the University of North Texas. She received ASCAP Plus Awards in the Pop Category every year 1998-2011. On the Kansas Arts on Tour touring program (solo and with her Starry Night Trio) Julie performs music from her albums One Starry Night, The Kiss of the Sun, As Far as the Heart Can See and Christmastide. She also toured for Texas and Mid-America Arts Alliance touring programs. She is one of 17 pianists nationwide on Spring Hill Records’ release, The HeartAid Project, benefiting families of the 9/11 tragedies. New Age Voice Magazine had tracks from her albums on their CD Samplers and in the NAV Airwaves Top 100. NPR’s Radio Kansas, and other online venues, rotates her albums for their program, Nightcrossings. Two of her albums were simultaneously on the Hastings Books Music and Video “Top Ten.” A feature story about Julie was in Bryggen Magazine, Sweden. Julie Rivers made her debut with the Dallas Symphony. She has also performed with the Saint Louis, Oklahoma, San Angelo, Abilene (TX), Lawton, North Arkansas, Salina and Topeka Symphonies. One Starry Night, live with orchestra, has been programmed on pops concerts to enthusiastic reviews. She also performed at the Texas Round Top Festival and the Oregon Bach Festival. Julie Rivers was named “2005 state composer” by the Kansas Federated Clubs. She was called “a treasured Kansas artist” by former first lady of Kansas, Linda Graves, and received a fellowship from the Kansas Arts Commission for her albums. Her 2008 win first place prize in the National League of American Pen Women contest was the fourth time she has won for her romantic and new age music. She is in the 2007 edition of The World of Women in Classical Music, by Anne Gray, La Jolla, CA. With the EarthStar Recordings release of her third album, "One Starry Night," pianist/composer Julie Rivers captured the hearts of new and old fans alike with her luxuriantly romantic music of the night. February 1999 saw the world premier of "The Kiss of the Sun," much-anticipated sequel to "One Starry Night," which celebrates the dazzling romance of the day. Her sixth recording, "Christmastide," was released next, and, "As Far As the Heart Can See" came in February, 2003. New Age Voice Magazine featured tracks from "One Starry Night" and "The Kiss of the Sun" in their CD Samplers included in the mailings of the national publication. Her music has been in the Airwaves Top 100 of NAV Magazine, with airplay on stations from Cambridge, MA to Florida, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Hawaii, and many more. Radio Kansas recently selected three of her original albums for their popular new age program, "Nightcrossings." In April 2002, it was announced in San Francisco that Julie won first place in the nation in the National League of American Pen Women composition contest with music from her recording, "The Kiss of the Sun." In April 1998, she had won first place in the same contest in St. Petersburg, Florida, with music from the CD "One Starry Night." She won two other national first places in the same contest in 2006 and 2008.She was recognized by the Kansas Arts Commission with one of four state Fellowship Awards for composition.
