简介

When award winning songwriter Andy Logan decided to make a new album, he did things a bit differently. Rather than writing the songs, then deciding how the instrumentation would sound, he opted to create the sound, THEN write the songs. Inspired by the fuzz on the Black Keys’ “Gold on The Ceiling”, Andy knew then and there he would find out what pedal they used to get that “Jeff Beck/ Yardbirds” tone, and he would build one to boot. Well, after knocking out 14 fuzz pedals, 3 overdrives, a handful of compressors, and constructing a few hand-wired slightly modded Fender-style amplifiers, Andy Logan had everything he needed to start recording. Now for the songs. He wanted a certain continuity, something a bit different from his earlier releases. “I want this next record to sound like I used the same guitar, the same amp, and together with Paul and Brian, we recorded all of the songs the same day.” He began to jot notes to himself. “Big Riffs that are fun to play and listen to...Lots of hooks, lots of guitar...BLUESY!!...Play and sing so the music grabs you by the collar and shakes you...Maybe write an instrumental, better yet, a surf instrumental. Spaghetti Western vibe? Played through a fuzz pedal. That could be hilarious. Quentin Tarantino?...Do a cover of Peter Green’s “Rattlesnake Shake”. Screw the subject matter. The song rocks...Get Ed King (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Strawberry Alarm Clock) to play on a track…” So now you have it. Andy Logan hasn’t rocked this hard since his days in “Little America”. In his words: “I don’t make background music”. That’s for sure. Crank it up.
