Dear Listeners, Thank you so much for visiting my page! I’d love to share a little about my music journey with you. I hope it encourages you to never give up on the promises of God. The song, “More of You (feat Darion Ja'von)” is the debut single of my soon to be released CD entitled RESTORED. The entire album speaks to the reality of restoration in my life. It was about twenty-two years ago when the desire to share His music was born. God made me a promise: I was going to become a noted recording artist. On October 6, 1989, I set out to make it happen. My first LIVE project was entitled “IT’S NOT I”(recorded while pregnant with my oldest son), and four more CDs followed—“In Full Bloom,” “My Morning Song,” “My Morning LOVE Song,” and “Soul Cries.” From 1989 until 2005, I tried everything in my power to realize the dream—all while raising two lovely sons alongside my husband, who in 1998, set out to begin ministry as the Senior Pastor of Visions of God Family Worship Center. So here it was— 2005—now 16 years after God had originally spoken to me. I decided it was time to let the dream go. I had to be realistic. My priorities had changed. My commitments were shared between my family on the one hand, and preaching the Gospel on the other. I was ready to let it go. Despite the fact that my songs encouraged some of my greatest supporters, I knew I didn’t have the talent or skillset to match the vision God gave me for these projects. So discouragement set in; and I stopped promoting my music altogether. I VOWED that I would NEVER record again. Meanwhile, my oldest son began to blossom in high school as an amazing producer and recording artist. His God-given skills as a drummer earned him an acceptance letter from the Berkley College of Music in Boston, MA. At some point during his tenure at Boston, he sent me a remixed demo of a song I recorded at my first live recording. I LOVED IT! But remember, I vowed never to record again. So, I calmed down and decided to use that sample for his next project. A few weeks later, I attended a conference in Jacksonville, FL. While there, my hope was unexpectedly reignited, and something within was awakened. Again, I experienced the spiritual contractions of an inner confirmation. God was not finished with me yet. Soon after, I was privileged to have a conversation with Fred Jerkins of Darkchild Gospel, better known in the industry as “Uncle Freddie,” which led to his commitment to produce four songs with me. My hope was now fully restored! I started believing again! God wanted me to inspire people with His songs in order to make a difference in them, and draw others to Him. So DJ and I co-wrote the title song “RESTORED,” and we sang together on this single “MORE OF YOU.” God is a restorer! Who knew when I was pregnant with DJ that my dream would have to incubate for 22 years? To date, DJ has produced seven songs on this project, uncle Freddie has produced four, and Maurice Henderson has graced us with his talent on one. Honored and humbled by this journey, I write to you with excitement and joy. I have no other choice but to believe God. I was told to name three artists that are similar to my “style” of music. My team chose Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, and Maurette Brown Clark. I protested immediately because I could never compare myself to the flawless, powerful and distinct voices of these women. But I do like the songs they sing, and I’m a huge fan of all three! So, yes! GOD WILL RESTORE! I think that’s all I have to say. Trust and Believe God. Your time of restoration has come.
