“Steve sobs comes by way of Eric Littmann. As a local, he also releases music as Phantom Power and produces the collective Phantom Posse, and on the full-length Open Space, the sentiment is large the temper is contained all mustering up behind muffled vocal tones, tapered-in field recordings, pulsating keyboards, arpeggiating guitars that follow a linear swirling. And that’s exactly what I love about how Littmann finds a rhythm that ebbs and flows, but it doesn’t aim for the superfluous or gusto. Lyrically, on ‘Wide Open,’ the cumulation of Open Spaces and its glimpse of both rural and urban transitions go something like this: “it’s 3AM and all you’re friends have got places to be you drank yourself drunk hanging over the rail down on south street trying to catch a wave in your hands walking south i saw some man writing his name in paint i caught myself wishing it was me hitting concrete, ringing out who i am again and again.” -ELEVTRTRAX
