Elephants of Scotland pulls in influences from all the great progressive bands of the 1970s and 1980s without sounding dated or just plain old. There’s always an ear toward keeping the energy level high, the production modern, and the melodies and harmonies catchy. Lead singer Adam Rabin insists that “songwriting is the key to Progressive Rock - or any genre of rock - making a real impact. No long mindless jams or complicated riffs just for the sake of being complicated. At the core of every track is a song that we’ve built up and arranged with intention.” The debut album is a tight-knit six songs that clocks in at a classic vinyl-ready 42 minutes. Song topics, ranging from environmentalism to alien invasions to time travel, are an homage to the genre while keeping it light and not overly serious.
