简介
And so it goes, so it goes. Agnostic Electric Gospel is chill trance. This is music about love that has nothing to do with the Bible or with sex. It is solo electric guitar and vocals, heavily processed. And it is an amalgam of self-defined sutras (like mantras, but with words in addition to sounds), many of which were written specifically to help me change my thoughts and behavior from the outside in and then the inside out. I Have Time actually cured my New York City stress. I said it every morning for a week, then every time I heard the little voice in my brain, or my actual mouth saying "I don't have time!" I would counter that with my sutra, "I have time." Eventually, after about a month, my attachment to time dissolved. Nothing cataclysmic happened. The world did not end without my worry and frantic exasperation. I was no longer stressed. Say It comes from the difficult attempt to process a cancer diagnosis, as I slowly, slowly emboldened myself to stronger and stronger levels of healing. I always start a sutra with what I can believe in. It forces me to go way back. This one actually started with "My body can heal itself," which was recorded (not yet released) with Circuit Cult, then progressed into the three stages you hear in the song. The list goes on. Please listen for yourself. The Agnostic Electric Gospel recordings were begun in a tree-house on an island off the state of Washington, and completed in the heart of Echo Park, Los Angeles throughout the 2010 tour. Mixing and mastering credits go to Eugene Toale. Post Script About Nepal: Agnostic Electric Gospel was composed for my trip to Nepal in March of 2010. It was debuted in Kathmandu, and I played 5 shows there in a month. Part of that tour was Spiny Babblers, an art and cultural school for Nepali children that promotes class and caste interaction and diversity. They were my organization of choice to donate to first quarter of this year, and I encourage anyone who gives to consider sponsoring some of their work. Having presented a workshop and performed at their school, I can attest first hand that they are a hard working crew doing good work. Please consider a donation to Spiny Babblers, Nepal on their munchs dot com website portal, forward slash sb.sponsorship/
