Walk In Your Skin / Neo 9
简介
After successful first releases with Audiofly and Alex Niggemann - and the support of top artists like Richie Hawtin, Radio Slave, Timo Maas, Jimpster and Anja Schneider, to name a few - Berlin's Soulfooled label is about to put the icing on the cake with their third EP SLFD003 this time featuring Pokerflat producer David Durango and a slick studio collaboration between Soulfooled co-owner Superlounge and their friend Den Ishu (Desolat). Following his spectacular remix for Alex Niggemann's 'Jewels', Soulfooled welcomes David Durango for his first release on the label. 'Walk in your Skin' is an entrancing summers-end affair. The groove here is deep and rippling beneath velvety organic chords. An exotic flute flutters in and out, creating a darkly mysterious ambience balance by languid rhythms and alluring melodies. Pure sensuality. On the remix, Soulfooled's leading talent Terje Bakke offers up 'Walk in your Skin' with a straighter 4/4 treatment. Bakke has built up the percussive elements and added an unexpected 70s funk melody that breaks into the middle of the track, adding a nice counter harmony. Makes me want to catch the Soul Train! Bakke has dressed it up in tech house trimmings while preserving all the warm, tasty elements from the original for a perfect dancefloor burner. 'Neo 9' is a collaboration between Superlounge and Den Ishu, a German Producer who's been building his reputation thanks to solid releases on labels like Desolat, Area Remote and Break New Soil. 'Neo 9' brings the old school flavor to the EP thanks to some smooth vocal samples, athmo rhodes and those big claps everyone loves. The track is characterized by it's long driving bass and a simple tambourine driven groove that builds and builds patiently, gradually growing punchier short before exploding into a full on club shaker with spectral siren swells. 'Neo 9' gets it's clubby makeover in the remix thanks to Berlin’s master of genre- melting, forward thinking club grooves - 'Mr Deep' himself - Phonique! It's all about vocals, bass and that rhodes taking center stage here. Clubby but smooth and sophisticated too - like a good house track should be.
