简介
The Manitou Singers have delighted audiences for many years with their beautiful and striking interpretations of treble choral literature. Comprised of 95 first-year female students at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, the Manitou Singers present a spring concert, participate periodically in daily chapel services and Sunday morning services on campus, as well as make several off-campus appearances during the year. Sigrid Johnson is a member of the voice and choral faculty at St. Olaf College. She holds a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from St. Cloud State University and a master of music degree in vocal performance from the University of Michigan. Before her appointment at St. Olaf College, she was on the music faculties of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, and at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Ms. Johnson is also the Associate Conductor of VocalEssence (formerly the Plymouth Music Series of Minnesota). Based in Minneapolis, VocalEssence presents both rarely heard and newly commissioned works for chorus and orchestra. Ms. Johnson maintains an active schedule as guest conductor and clinician at regional and national music festivals and workshops. She has given seminars on choral music in Europe and Australia and has conducted the National Lutheran Choir of Minneapolis. Ms. Johnson has served as Associate Conductor of the Dale Warland Singers and Conductor of the Dale Warland Symphonic Chorus. She has prepared symphonic choruses for Neemi Jarvi, Sir Neville Mariner, David Zinman, Stanislaw Skrowaczewsky, Gerard Swartz, Edo de Waart and Leonard Slatkin, among others.
