Kenneth Carr Composer, Producer, Singer, Musician and Vocalist Internationally renowned jazz musician, Kenny Carr, is one of the world’s premier soulful jazz trombonist and shout band recording artist. His phenomenal ability to play multiple instruments such as the sousaphone, bass horn, trombone, baritone, drums, trumpet and the piano exemplifies his incredible skill and passion for the art of music. His unique talent and amazing style has awarded him the opportunity to appear on Grammy nominated recordings, Dove award winning projects, and named the Best of North Carolina Music Artist. Kenneth Carr, native of Charlotte, North Carolina, began his musical journey at the age of 6, when he began playing the trumpet in the church band. He brought the crowd to their feet and amazed them with his talents and gifts to play multiple instruments. In his adult age, Kenneth pursued his passion professionally as a soulful shout brass trombonist. He later collaborated with other local musicians to form a group, The Tigers. They popularized a fresh bona fide sound in fresh new music. Douglas Yeo, Bass Trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra commented that, “Kenny can turn a single note into a flaming flower of expression and the ensemble moves as one to push, prod, and react to all going on. It is truly unforgettable.” Kenny’s incredible skill and exquisite technique has been compared to historical innovators of jazz by Matthew A. Hafar, Winston Salem State UniversityProfessor of Musicology and Trombone at Wake Forest University. “I could follow the bands progression, but never knew where Kenny’s melodic flights were taking him. Then, like magic, there he was within a chord with the row trombones. His creative ornamentation with this unique shout band genre reminded me of Louie Armstrong’s melodic innovation in jazz.” His career has afforded Kenny the opportunity to grace the stage with some of the industries influential musicians such as Ramsey Lewis, Wycliffe Gordon, Jonathan Butler, Al Green, Sherly Crow, Gladys Knight, and the late Ray Charles. His talents extend across genres, allowing Kenny to share his talents with gospel greats Vickie Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Bishop Ronald Brown, and John P Kee. His incredible music has been recognized by the international news and press. Kenny has been featured on or in the following distinguished shows and publications; NPR’s All Things Considered, The Brass Journal of News of Switzerland, ITEC International Brass Journal of Budapest, Hungary, TBN, Black Entertainment Television, and the Tribune Broadcasting. Carr’s has toured and shared his musical expertise internationally with his solo project’s “Heaven” (1995) “Christmas with Kenny Carr” (1997) “Make A Joyful Noise” (1998) and “Sound the Alarm” (2004). He has also broaden his repertoire to include Executive Producer of the amazing masterpiece, “The Seal Breakers” (2011). Kenny’s latest gift, “Amazing Love” (2013) will certainly secure him as one of the best musicians of all times.
