Jahranimo Looks To Evolve With New Sound Internationally Reggae artiste, Anthony Smith formally known as Apache, has reinvented his brand and is making waves in the music industry as Jahranimo. Jahranimo, who grew up in the parish of St.James, is busy making his name a household name with his reformed sound and lyrics. Jahranimo stared his musical journey as early as age thirteen and has been moving forward since. In 2001, he decided that he wanted to be an artist among the revolutionaries and branded himself as a “True Rasta Man”. “I always knew that this was my calling and after going to Canada I decided to take my career more seriously and put together a compilation album titled, In Jamaica, as a part of my movement against oppressors.” By 2004, Jahranimo released his first solo album titled “Real Life” that topped the international Reggae charts in several countries, additionally, one single from album, “Jah Jah Love’ was used in the TV series Falcon Beach. In 2008, he released his second album called “Praises” and not long after, he topped the international Reggae charts again with a single from the album titled “I’m Free” featuring Jah Cure. “The sounds and knowledge of Bob Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Super Cat, Garnett Silk, Sizzla, Big Youth and U-Roy play a great part in my career. I look up to each of these artistes and respect the foundation they have set for artistes like myself.” Jahranimo is set to release a new album titled “ Evolving” which he says is expected to top every local and international Reggae chart in the coming year.
