简介
After honing her big band singing chops for almost 2 years as the featured vocalist traveling worldwide with The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Maria Schafer returns to small group origins with her debut presentation of small group arrangements of tunes from the beloved American Songbook. The body of the album features Ms. Schafer fronting a guitar trio headed by Shane Savala on guitar with Joe Butts on bass and Kyle Sharamitaro on drums. The personnel is a mixture of "L.A." and "LA", featuring Ms. Schafer and Shane Savala from Los Angeles, with Joe Butts, Kyle Sharamitaro, and Brad Black bringing their New Orleans scene experience to the group. A Gershwin medley closes the album with the full ensemble and features special guest Brad Black on trumpet, while more intimate tunes include Jobim's "Estrada Branca" and Strayhorn's "Lush Life" in duo presentations with only guitar or bass joinining to bring Ms. Schafer's divine lyrical delivery, rhythmic nuance, and elegant phrasing to the forefront.
