Uncompromising Dutch black metal trio Nihill will be releasing their demented new album ‘Verderf’ next week via Burning World Records, but you can hear the whole thing right here, exclusively with Terrorizer. ‘Verderf’ (Dutch for ‘decay’, if you were wondering) is the band’s fourth full-length to date (following on from 2012’s Hydra Head backed ‘Verdonkermaan’), and their first for Burning World Records; it’s also quite possibly the most horrendous thing they’ve put to tape so far, as scathing shards of ice cold feedback collide with blistering tremolo bursts and the kind of riffs that Tom G. Warrior would probably come up with in the aftermath of a heavy absinthe binge. While you could loosely call this black metal, there’s elements of doom, noise and even martial industrial at play within this album’s grotesque, hallucinatory grooves. Imagine Deathspell Omega stranded in Antarctica with Blut Aus Nord at their most obtuse, and you still won’t even be close to how utterly deranged this thing sounds.
