简介
"...a journey in which discovery follows discovery." (Art Dudley / Stereophile ). "Sasha's voice is a unique one on the contemporary scene, and it is this very singularity that makes it both genuine and memorable." (Carla Verdino-Sullwold / Fanfare ). Composer Sasha Matson came of musical age in the tumult of 1960's Berkeley. His musical style was forged with a number of important composer/mentors over the years- including John Adams, David Raksin, and Frank Zappa. Sasha is an audiophile, and his recordings have been created with noted audiophile producers John Atkinson and Joe Harley. His music is strongly melodic, and tells detailed musical stories, drawing as well from musical roots in jazz and blues. Title composition "Tight Lines" is a suite about fly-fishing, scored for strings and keyboards, and the three other works on the album focus on bars, paintings, and the Berkeley Hills. Critics have compared Sasha's work favorably to composers as varied as Ravel, Copland, and Mahler and the Grateful Dead.
