简介
You're walking across the desert sands. The night is black as a dying sun. In the distance you see a glow. You approach cautiously. A curious creature sits beside a camp fire. He has a human body but the head of a Kamel! He strums a haunting tune on the sitar, while behind him a Moog synthesiser pulses hypnotically. Intrigued, you move closer. The Kamel With No Name sees you and beckons you closer to the fire. His band appears like a mirage - funky drums, hammond organ, big brass sections, Arabic strings - sounds from every part of the planet, fused together into one hot funky mess! You dance. Kamel Nitrate was originally formed by producer/multi-instrumentalist Tony Marrison and world music DJ Nelson Dilation. They were invited to do some remixes, discovered they had a sound, and Kamel was born. After a series of remixes for world dance luminaries such as Transglobal Underground, the Bollywood Brass Band, James Asher and more, they wrote their own album, forming a band along the way. The result was "Lost In Spice", released in 2003. The band hit the road and toured all over Europe. They were hailed as "the future of world music" by BBC's Andy Kershaw - although curiously when they played a live session for his radio show he denied all knowledge of that soundbite, but said he did't mind if they used it. So they did. Time passed, life turned and the Kamels scattered to the four corners of the earth. But the dream of Kamel Nitrate never disappeared and now, more than 10 years later, it's ready to resurface. The brand new album, helmed by Tony Kamel, features contributions from all the previous Kamels plus a host of stellar new guests. "Lebanon Elevator" is a good old-fashioned concept album, about mankind's exodus from the earth via a beam of light into space. Prepare to be Elevated!
