BRAM STADHOUDERS | IMPROVISATIONS FOR IMAGINARY MOVIES ON CLASSICAL GUITAR Calming, lyrical "comprovisations", or as Bram Stadhouders says, "comprobient", because of the ambient influence. Recorded in october in his new livingroom in Berlin, the most intimate location for a pure form of concentration without distraction. For a few pieces he recorded stories through a vocoder, which gives a beautiful heavy effect. For other pieces he used vocal samples from other continents, and sometimes it's just pure and only acoustic guitar. The fifth album of the 23-year old Dutch guitarist is clearly something else. As a little kid he started on the classical guitar. Later he went on to rock, jazz, experimental impro, electronic music, but for this new album he reached back to his first instrument, and took along the influences of his previous musical adventures. As he says himself, on the classical guitar he can express himself the most directly. He didn't have to search long for the album name "Halt". It's music to stop for a moment and think about the things that have the most value. All comprovisations have a quite imaginary character. With aid of cetrain texts, you see yourself driving through the nightly desert, dancing in a white room in the city, strumpeling through a rainy meadow. These kinds of imaginary images are also the inspiration for the compositions. Classical oriented guitartechniques with still the freshness of electronic music and modern experimentation. And as often admitted by listeners: "He combines sadness and bliss so intensely well in his music, that you get the idea that he's juggling around with your feelings". ABOUT BRAM STADHOUDERS: Stopping with what you're doing and thinking about valuable things, seeing yourself driving through the nightly desert, dancing in a white room in the city, walking through a rainy meadow. That's what Bram Stadhouders (Netherlands, 1987) can cause as soon as he touches a guitarstring. Inspired by silence, stories and nature-trips, and raised in a musician-family, as a little boy his father gave him his first classical guitar lessons, with which he already won several competitions. Later he continued in the world of rock, jazz, and electronic music, with the same big success. His music is praised by press and audience, and he was chosen as a Young Vip in The Netherlands, connected to the biggest tour for upcoming improvising musicians. After his electronic music composition studies, he moved to the new music paradise Berlin, and tours extensively in the Netherlands, Europe, and the USA. He performs as a solo-guitarist, as duo with Onno Govaert, and with an international 6-piece band Bram Stadhouders Korps.
