The Strange Walls are a New York city group consisting of multi instrumentalists J.V.O Worthley 1996 - present Dan Drogynous 2003 - present and Regina Yates 2015 - present. Past works have been filed under postpunk & artpunk, experimental, outsider, shoegaze & dark wave. "The sound stylings range from demented little ballads that remind me a lot of some of Edward Ka-Spels work, to some very nicely done noise tracks." -Last Sigh magazine. They have provided soundtracks for the New York underground “Cinema of Transgression” film scene, gallery installations & Childrens puppet theater. With little consistency found in musical style, you’ll find ongoing themes of isolation, ghosts & gallows humor "In its concern with darkness, dreams, madness and general dysfunction, The Strange Walls share some themes with goth, but really this is has little do with that rather well-defined genre. Closer in spirit to Syd Barrett than Peter Murphy, They drift from one unsettling scenario to the next, entrancing and disturbing with surreal incantations." -Jim Santo. With the addition of classically trained multi-instrumentalist & chanteuse Regina Yates, 2016’s Won’t Last (Alrealon Musique) is a beautiful piece which will fit nicely perhaps beside the candles & incense atop your your stack of 4ad & Projekt Cd’s & black nail polish in your bedroom - in 1997. The sound is far more more intentional than past works. 100+ different musical & non musical instruments were used which lift & fall, transforming from all programmed synths to raw live room recordings at odd points, going almost almost unnoticed in the conscious brain. As Dans lulled childish voice is periodically heard from a distance, exclaiming some actions incoherent yet urgent sounding. as if sleep talking from another room. The short & tightly structured songs often connect through minimal ethereal scapes. Raw & intense, The Strange Walls - Won’t Last is a slice of winter on a warm day.
