简介
Released at the height of the disco craze in 1978, 2 Hot! not only managed a chart-topping love theme with the still-ubiquitous "Reunited," but it also had a Top 5 hit with the dance-oriented "Shake Your Groove Thing." The original lineup of P&H began in the mid-60s, with Herb Fame (nee Feemster) and Francine Hurd Barker, who had been dubbed "Peaches" in her youth. Produced by the late Van ("The Hustle") McCoy, the duo found some chart success in their early years on Date Records, but by 1970, the well had dried up, and Herb went into law enforcement in Washington D.C. In 1976, Herb, with a new Peaches (Linda Greene) in tow, signed to MCA, once again in the company of producer McCoy. Though the MCA record did manage to chart, it wasn't until after engaging producer/songwriter Freddie Perrin and signing to Polydor that the magic returned in earnest. The 2 Hot! album, went platinum on the strength of its two mega-smash singles, both of which were co-written by producer Perren. Though Peaches and Herb continued to record for a couple of years (and are still, with a new Peaches of course, available for tour dates), 2 Hot! represented their artistic and commercial apex. Select Direct Releases feature original LP artwork reconfigured to an oversized heavy board minijacket wrapped with an iridescent stock, includes a translucent sleeve to protect the CD.
