Drayton & The Dreamboats are an Asheville, North Carolina-based band who specialize in dreamy vintage pop and social music. While firmly rooted in the tradition of small combo vocal jazz, their debut release "Dream Time" supplements the group's jazzy vintage sound with influences from doo-wop to western swing to psychedelic rock. The result is a diverse, at times strange yet delightfully accessible album that offers something for dreamers of all stripes. In addition to several inspired renditions of swing-era standards, the band shows off their songwriting chops on "Fallen For You", "Here I Am With You", and "Someone So Perfect As You" - three very different love ballads that anchor "Dream Time" and give the album something of a thematic quality. The Dreamboats include vocalist and violinist Drayton Aldridge, guitarist Luke Norton, drummer Mike Oliver, and bassist Craig Sandberg. Franklin Keel is the gentleman responsible for the gorgeous cello on "Someone So Perfect As You". "Dream Time", as well as its companion piece "Dreamboat Rendezvous", was recorded at the Eagle Room in Weaverville, North Carolina and mixed, mastered, and produced by Matt Williams. The one and only Spenser Hallmark dreamed up and painted the album cover.
