In their second full-length release, alt-electro-rock band Mothers Talk explores loss, disconnection, anger and philosophical themes. The sound of this album is moody and ambient, yet dynamic and upbeat. It's lush with vocal harmonies, heavy drum sounds and atmospheric synthesizer layers, yet subtle and ethereal in spots to create a full sonic picture. Writer/Composer Matt Drohan spent 16 months writing and producing the material for "Minor Chords and the Colour Black", which is in essence a journal of his own personal story. It is a story of battling with inner demons, depression, and abandonment, but with the resolve that love and the acceptance of pain can free the mind. Emily Drohan guides much of the album vocally and together, Matt and Emily harmonize to make the sound and story complete. This 2017 Remix Edition is an effort to refine certain sounds that Matt felt was lacking in the original and improve the overall sound of the record. Most of the original recordings were left intact, but selective instruments and vocals were reworked, followed by a full remix and remaster of the entire album.
