简介
On her debut EP, Worth a Shot, singer-songwriter-producer Kris Bradley’s modern country motifs are highlighted with blues and jazz based melodic sensibilities and potent lyrical narratives. She channels these elements through the charming confidence of her vocals as she inscribes a musical signature that is adventurous, authentic and audacious. With a career trajectory that has landed her in the historic RCA Recording Studios on Music Row, Kris can look back over a whirlwind year of transformation. Since her arrival in Nashville, significant in-roads include co-writing with a roster of top songwriters, cuts with artists Nik West and Devon Reese Simon, performing for CMA Week at B.B. King’s, being interviewed for a profile on iHeart Radio, a featured spot in a Listening Room songwriter’s round and with Worth a Shot, her inaugural artist project. “Nashville is inspiring instead of intimidating,” she says of her adopted hometown. “It makes me want to be better.” Championed by Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) Kris has been highlighted as one of the organization’s “Top 40”, “One’s to Watch” and included on NSAI’s Publisher Compilation CD. Growing up in a house with her great grandmother, Kris was raised on classical music, standards, big bands and jazz. “Mozart and Glenn Miller,” she explains. Her mom’s eclectic musical tastes – from classic rock to Nineties country – provided a lively sonic spectrum from Led Zeppelin and Heart to Garth Brooks and Reba. On her own by age 20, Kris studied at Hollywood’s Musicians Institute before hitting the road fronting bands: from venues “Webster Hall”, “Bluebird Theatre”, and “Key Club” in 40+ states in the U.S. to India, Malaysia and Thailand. She began experimenting with computer-based recording programs, graduating from Garage Band to Logic and Protools software. Singing for a living provided a crash course in song structure while the road revealed real life experiences. At home with pop, rock and a range of popular styles, when she began imagining her own songs the chemistry was conversational, upbeat and captivating – the perfect combination for listener-friendly Americana/Country crossover. Kris’ range of credits includes placing songs on the Cartoon Network, E! Entertainment shows, and scoring a French-produced short film for a major artist music video to playing SXSW 2014 and opening for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in Summer of 2016. Now writing with an expanding circle of Nashville collaborators who she describes as “…my soul sisters and my soul misters,” Kris explores the headspace of writing for other artists while retaining the songs that best reflect her personal style with jazz and blues nuances. Her single "We Don’t Paint the Town" and "Vacay for the Day" are 2 of the handful of songs co-written and produced with Los Angeles writing partner Daniel Schwarz. Worth a Shot and Margarita Monday are co-produced and co-written with Nashville partner Jeff Zacharski of Jenga Productions. Inventing what she typifies as “…interesting hooks and quirky titles,” a 100 word per minute typing facility and solid knowledge of her craft are revealed in plenty of verbiage. “When it’s laid out for me, it’s like solving a puzzle,” she says of her lyrical dexterity. As an artist, a songwriter and a true rarity – a female producer – Nashville is a creative capitol that fits Kris Bradley and her spectrum of talents.
