简介
Freeana’s second CD release, “A Child’s Trust” features an extraordinary collection of deeply heartfelt lyrics and gorgeous melodies. Jazzy and Upbeat, Comforting and mellow at the same time, each song is an inspirational vehicle for self-love and acceptance as well as a powerful tool for cultivating trust for one’s inner wisdom. This album is highly recommended for children, adult children and parents as well as for those in recovery from abuse and/or mental illness. "A Child's Trust" is inspired by Freeana’s beloved pet guinea pig,“Jazzie” who came to her at a very important time in her life. "You've got to hear this!" he says as he chews his tenth carrot. It's grrrrr...ate. His sweet, loving, gentle spirit symbolizes the innocence and unconditional love that exists between a mother and child or any deeply healing bond. “Jazzie” awakened the child within and the nurturing mother’s voice with a healthy dialogue springing forth between the two. An incredible journey of healing developed and this music reflects that in its positive affirmations for the human spirit. This music is a cross between the stirring of the sea and the squeaks that erupt from Jazzie's cage with a twist of pellets spreading far into the distance. His mellow outlook on life is truly an inspiration for our complex minds. Freeana features her intriguing musical expressions with her soothing vocals, keyboards, alto recorder, dumbek and hand percussion. She creates a healing mandala of harmonic and melodic textures that reflect a diverse musical background. This includes Indian, Native American, Middle-Eastern, Jazz Improvisation and Classical music. It isn't Yo Yo Ma, Beethoven's fifth, or even a quirky Carlos Nakai. It's an 8 course meal of your favorite foods and beverages blended into something quite palatable and real. There are wonderful group improvisation sections buoyed by Freeana’s incredible lilting rhythms lovingly played on her dumbek. Her alto recorder improvisations have reached new heights of creativity and unbridled joy. Freeana also has a wonderful way of creating mesmerizing harmonic tapestries on the keyboard. She has an uncanny ability to set a mood and create soothing and lush landscapes for her melodies to dance across. BIOGRAPHY: Freeana is a Cambridge, MA based vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser whose music comes from a very deep, passionate, soulful place. It has been described as, “uplifting,” eloquent,” “unique,” and “healing” to many audiences. Freeana has performed and delighted audiences all over the Boston and New England areas including Kripalu Center and Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY, playing solo performances as well as collaborating with other musicians in different styles and genres. She has been playing music in some form or another for 40 years with the last 25 years devoted to her own musical compositions and improvisations. Freeana is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where she majored in viola performance and minored in saxophone. She was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic while still a student and toured with them, playing at various venues including Carnegie Hall. After graduation she wanted to explore the music inside of her. In support of this she committed much time to writing and improvising freely for many years. She explored other instruments such as the recorder, voice, keyboard and dumbek. Her music encompasses a range of ritual sounds to beautiful melodies with sensitive lyrics to catchy instrumentals. Freeana has also created on “A Woman’s Chant,” her debut CD, a language all her own that speaks in syllables where the words don’t matter; it is the underlying emotion and essence that springs forth and provides meaning.
