简介
Sammy Lee has been playing the harmonica for half his life – 35 of his 70 years. Well known to blues lovers in the juke-joints of South Central LA as Harmonica Sam, the lonely train whistle sounds of his harmonica bring authenticity to his music as he sways with the relentless shuffle beat of his Louisiana blues upbringing. That’s not surprising considering he is a descendant of Robert Johnson, Master of the Delta Blues What might be more surprising is the powerful and loving connection formed five years ago between Sammy and then 12-year old Ray Goren. From the moment they met, there was a special bond that defies age and other barriers. Ray refers to Sammy as his Uncle – and Sammy always gets a good laugh from the audience when he says, “Don’t me and my nephew look a lot alike?” Sammy says, “Ray has a whole lot of soul for a young man and he plays with a feeling – he plays what he feels!” They have shared their music up and down the west coast from California to Oregon and on to Chicago and Memphis. The chemistry is always there. Sammy and Ray rock the blues!
