简介
"...a wonderfully rich sounding album... a thoughtful and evocative recording and something that those of you who like good film music will really enjoy." -- Jeff Johnson, Raven & Dove Released in 1993, Farewell to Shadowlands is music in the in the style and range of such artists as Pat Metheny Group and Mark Isham. The music is inspired by verses in the Bible regarding the renewal of all things as well as the highly acclaimed allegorical work "The Chronicles of Narnia" by theologian and philosopher C.S. Lewis. Featured on this album are guest appearances by guitarist Randy Bernsen, former Weather Report percussionist Robert Thomas, Jr., Blue Man Group drummer Jeff Quay, and two time Grammy Award winner pop/latin vocalist Jon Secada. Ray relates that the music on this project is more cinematic and atmospheric than his subsequent release, "Figures of the True", though not without the same contemporary jazz underpinnings. It also contains several improvised orchestral pieces. Most of the music was written during the period of 1988-1990 and recorded and mixed, for the most part, at Criteria Studios in Miami, FL.
