THE SAN CARLOS ALL STARS Late in 2010, we put together a compilation CD using tracks from many local San Carlos musicians to be sold at a series of monthly concerts to help benefit Rancho del Ninos San Humberto Empalme Orphanage. Leslie was able to take multiple tunes recorded at different locations and mix them at a uniform level so they sounded as if they came from the same place. Sales from the resulting CD and proceeds from the monthly concerts have enabled us to provide much needed food, supplies and tools to the Nuns who run the orphanage. A second, but equally important, benefit of this CD is to get tunes from these talented writers out in the universe so we might be able to get these songs placed in film, television, or commercial projects, As our concert audience has discovered, there is a wealth of incredible musical talent in our little pueblo of San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. Now, with this CD release we want to share this talent with the world. Getting any of the songs placed would indeed be a blessing. Sam Rainwater's TIKI BAR IN MY BACKYARD is an engaging, trop rock tune about a day dreamer who yearns to be back near the sun and the sea. British Blues artist, Peter Pope Jones' incredible arrangement of an old classic, ST. JAMES INFIRMARY is Josh White meets Tom Waits. The legendary Chris Montez performs a live arrangement of his hit, CALL ME from the 60's Music Festival in San Carlos back in 2003. WALTZ ME AROUND AGAIN NELLY by Bruce Munson and the Trailer Trash Royalty is a lilting drinking song which you can't get out of your mind. San Carlos favorites, The Twins, give their rendition of the Chris Montez classic, NO NO NO. If you don't dance along to this song, you've got a hole in your soul! NOBLESA by the terrific San Carlos vocalist, Manuelito backed by The Twins is just simly a feast for your ears. NOGALES by Bobby and Leslie Sahlen ... an up tempo tune which tells the story of a wandering rounder who discovers too late that he loves the girl he has been leaving in the lurch for years. San Carlos's favorite son, Mark Mulligan, performs EVEN THE BAD DAYS ARE GOOD which typlifies the way all of the residents down here feel about our little pueblo. TEQUILA by The Twins has become a popular down load in Japan. The guys' unique rendition will make you want to hear more from them. Our tune, SATISFIED MIND is a happy blues number which tells the way I feel about my soul mate and life partner, Leslie. It's been making top ten lists on Broadjam.Com. One of San Carlos's newest arrivals, Ron "Fingers" Daisley offers this tasty country rocker, I'M A BAD BOY. You'll want to get up and dance to this one. Popular San Carlos performer and songwriter, Eric Holland performs A MAN CAN NEVER BE FREE, a haunting mid tempo tune that you will quickly sing along with. And finally, kick back and enjoy an original piano composition from Christie Forester, DAWN'S EMBRACE. This beautiful original music is most relaxing and lovely.
