简介
Born in London, England Dave Revels has toured extensively throughout the United States and the world including a performance in China at the U.S. Embassy. His credits include work in rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, reggae and calypso. In his early twenties during the American rock and roll nastolgia rebirth Dave accepted an offer to join the Hall Of Fame group The Drifters, to as he says "learn first hand about American rock and roll. "Who else to better learn from than the legends themselves?" says Dave. Over the next several years Dave spent every possible moment asking the legends about their songwriting styles and watching them perform their magic night after night from backstage. Often on the long hours on the tour buses Dave had the opportunity to observe the artists close up and absorb the nature and the qualities in their personalities that endeared them to their legions of fans. Dave has performed alongside such legends as country great Ronnie Milsap, The Temptations, Four Tops, Bo Diddley, Chubby Checker, Del Shannon, Wilson Pickett, Junior Walker and The All-stars and Ben E. King, to name a few. Dave has also recorded with Calypso legends The Mighty Sparrow, Arrow, and performed live with them along with Lord Kitchner and Reggae legends The Blues Busters. Dave has composed original work for a rock and roll musical, including the title track, "Love Potion # 10 which ran for several months in Las Vegas at The Sahara Hotel and Casino in their showroom. For the past three years his song "Stand Up America" is performed 365 days of the year as the grand finale number in a rock and roll show featuring legendary names The Platters, Drifters and Coasters. The song is also being performed by various groups around the country and being hailed as a contemporary national anthem. Currently he can be heard as featured vocalist on The A capella legends, The Persuasions latest CD on Chesky Records entitled "The Persuasions Sings U2." Dave was also called upon to arrange the music of U2 into A capella format and co-produced the CD with label head David Chesky. On his "Family Ties" CD Dave has taken the advice of Ben E. King who told him not to worry about following any trend and to just write from his heart. The result is a musical style all his own that embraces the feel good nature of classic rock and roll and calypso with the earthy lyrics of reggae and country music's story-telling, over-layed with today's guitar rock and his melodic lyrical writing and powerful vocal delivery. "I don't feel there should be any boundaries placed on anyone's musical expression. I've been crossing genres all my life and it's as natural to me as conversation," says Dave. On this his newly released CD "Family Ties," Dave was joined by budding guitar legend, Grammy Nominee Paul Nelson who currently tours with another legend Bluesman Johnny Winter.
