简介
The latest cd is free-spirted, Dana’s lyrics are bold and sassy, reminiscent of the early Prince recordings. She embraces classic soul and jazz; and respectfully meshes reggae and funk in a graceful touch. Other musicians see her as a young Patrice Rushin or Roberta Flack. Not being afraid of being honest about herself, I asked her, how personal are these songs on the latest cd. “I cried writing ‘Complicated.’ The music is personal, sometimes too personal.” The lyrics on “Slow Down” make you think, “Sometimes I think I’ve been moving to fast, got to face the future but can’t forget the past, Slow Down, Slow Down, try to keep my feet above the ground.” She reminds us that sometimes we’re moving to fast, and to appreciate the now. The song “Entity” is just plain uplifting, Dana lays down a scat that even Scatman Cruthers would be proud of, it make’s ya wanna say; Ow ww! A great way to start your day. The song “Dream You,” starts out in a rhythmically poetic way. It’s about the hurting part of a relationship love and the missing of someone.
