简介
Dubb Sicks is "basically a rockstar that spits sick over beats." There is no other way to describe a pure entertainer with razor-sharp lyrics and a stage show that has Texas crowds in an uproar. Originally from Odessa; Sicks now resides in Austin where he was named one of the city's top ten hip hop performers by the Austin Chronicle in 2006 and 2007 and played the world famous SXSW Festival in 2009. His rugged delivery and sometimes crude storytelling ability matched with his energetic stage performance and creative marketing ploys keep him in the thick of the evolving Texas underground music scene. Sicks has toured the nation by Greyhound bus soon to be chronicled in the "Booze on the Greyhound" tour DVD. The rapper boasts on his 2009 release: "this is the life of an underground rap star; tour by plane, by, bus and by car." With his newest release titled "Lifestyles of the Sick and Fameless" Dubb dives deep into the subjects, situations, stories, and drinking anthems that keep this filthy individual ticking. Dubb Sicks has shared the stage with national acts including: Jedi Mind Tricks, Cage, R.A. the Rugged Man, Killah Priest, C-Rayz Walz, Camp Lo, 2 Live Crew, Aceyalone, KRS-ONE, Too $hort and Ghostface Killah just to name a few. Be on the lookout for Dubb Sicks and his albums: "Mind in the Gutter" and "Sunrise Alcoholic" and his third solo release "Lifestyles of the Sick and Fameless" ft. hip-hop veterans C-Rayz Walz and Pace Won due out in December 2009. If you get a chance to see him live DO NOT pass it up. It's like being kicked in the face...in a good way!! With 2008's Mind in the Gutter, Dubb Sicks established himself as Austin's pre-eminent degenerate rapper at the age of 23. On this second album, the Odessa-born MC flips his game, toning down the shock and front-loading Lifestyles with choice cuts ("Just to Make Ya'll Feel It," "Not So Very Far From Home") that didn't seem in his wheelhouse two years ago. "Rapstar the Superhero" and "My Girlfriend Hates It" suggest Sicks has a ways to go, but his progress is palpable, and he knows it ("Sharper lyrics, better beats, better mixing, more production"). -Chase Hoffberger (Austin Chronicle)
