Andrews' debut solo album, Road to Ambo, was released in 2014. “It was inspired by my family’s journey to adopt our son from Ambo in Ethiopia; the love I have for my family; and my dreams of justice and relief for those who are suffering,” he explains. The recording received airplay on hundreds of radio stations around the world and went Top 10 on the international Top 100 Zone Music Reporter Chart (the main chart for new age and modern classical music). Andrews was named one of the Top 5 “Best New Artists of the Year” by the ZMR radio programmers. In addition, the album was added to Pandora and the prestigious Whisperings Solo Piano Radio Channel, and it went to #1 on the Enlightened Piano Radio Chart. It also received a nomination for “Best Solo Piano Album” from the One World Music Awards, and was selected by Audiosyncracy Radio for their “Best of 2014 Show.” About the Songs: "Road to Ambo" is about the unbelievable journey Adam's family took to adopt their son from Ambo, Ethiopia. It represents the strength and courage it took for all of them to be together. "Unknown Hero" honors Adam's favorite kind of hero, those whose selfless acts of kindness changed his life for the better. The intro melody was originally written in memory of a good friend, and someone who had this impact on his life. "Hope and Joy" was composed just before Adam finished the album. It's about a Dad's love for his daughters and is named after Adam's girls. "We Are Brothers" is about the impact of mental illness on Adam's family. Grief, loss, hope and love form this song that is therapeutic to play, but hard for him to listen to. "You Were There" expresses the deep love and appreciation Adam has for his wife, Rachel. "Faces We See" was composed as Adam reflected on his journey to change the way he looks at, and responds to, the most vulnerable. "Smoky Hill" was inspired by Adam's journey to see depression as a blessing in his life. When the smoke clears, a beautiful view follows. "Upside Down Church" is a reflection on needs not being met by the church, and optimism for change. "New Normal" is about how Adam's family got turned upside down from the moment they started the adoption process, and how they're learning a healthier and joyful perspective on life. "The Well Within" was written as Adam imagined a deep well within his heart that is difficult to draw from, yet its' water is life giving. It takes courage to follow the heart. "Breathe" was composed as Adam imagined riding through the countryside, taking in the fresh air, and enjoying the moment. Living in the present is not always easy.
