简介
As the next generation of rap emerges, a wave of new artists will struggle to stake their claim and make their mark on the culture. The stage is set for the something new, something realer. While a slew of young hopefuls will clamor their way to the top, few will stand out and even fewer will survive. Coming straight out of California, P-Funk is both the product of Hip-Hop’s former generation and a game changing collection of new ideas Though he embodies his peer’s new attitude and fresh approach to the game, what’s set him apart is a style and realness that is becoming a rarity in today’s age. This is a time for new legends to be made. The world is waiting to see what this new school can do, and P-Funk came to deliver. Born Paul Solis, P-Funk grew up in South San Francisco, California. From a very early age, music was a big part of his life. His father was a musician who kept the home alive, with other artists and jam sessions constantly pumping out music. When Paul was 10 yrs old his father died. His mother was forced to persevere and he was forced to grow up quick. Though his mother was an endless source of hope and strength, Paul also tapped into music as a source for both. Influenced by legendary artists such as Outkast, Nas, and 2Pac to name a few, Paul’s affinity for music exceeded those of the average kid. What was born out of a genuine love for music soon became a study, a kind of preparation that would lay the foundation for him as an artist. By High School, P-Funk started writing 16 bar verses and composing songs. He wrote incessantly to hone his skills. He competed in local battles and began performing at shows. At 17, he started to record his music and has never stopped since. While other rappers his age dwindled away or gave up the mic for other aspirations, P-Funk began to take his craft more serious. He was garnering attention from many places and it was obvious he had something special. He knew it, and it was just a matter of time that everyone else did too. With the Bay Areas long tradition of cultivating an array of unique and independent artists, P-Funk easily found himself touching bases with many local talents. He networked with established and up and coming artists, and on the way put out a series of mixtapes and countless songs and freestyles that never made it on to any official projects. Ready to take his career to the next level, P-Funk linked up with Ri$ky Bizness, a DJ’ing and production team based in San Francisco and founded by Eddie Raskal. P-Funk along with his Risky Business Crew put out his debut album entitled Paid Time Off. Which was an album he described as “the sound of wind in your face on a beautiful day; driving down the Cali Coast with a beautiful girl sitting shotgun, after the 49ers win the Super Bowl … the album is chill.” By combining a precise lyrical approach with show stealing bravado, P-funk is a guaranteed standout on any track. He blends wittiness and vivid narratives in his lyrics. With an obvious appreciation for the art of rapping, P-Funk is ready to show the world what he can do. From another neighborhood kid to a sort of hometown hero, P-Funk is a new paradigm for people who refuse give up on their dreams. His story is that of the every man, the kid at heart, the hustle, the Hip-Hop, the street dreams, and the d**e 16’s. When you ask what him what he wants to do with his music he replies I just want to remind folks, old and young that this is life, live it up,” When asked how far he wants to take it with his music he simply “Become legendary”.
