简介
by Rick AndersonElectronic voice phenomena (EVP) is the term used to describe unexplained incursions of apparently human (or at least humanoid) voices into broadcast programming, electronic recordings, and two-way radio communication. This album consists of EVP recordings captured by noted British paranormalist Raymond Cass, whose work in the area of EVP brought him both renown and ridicule during his long career, as well as similar recordings made by Friedrich Jürgenson and the pioneering EVP collector Konstantin Raudive, whose classic 7" vinyl record titled Breakthrough is reproduced on CD here for the first time. The disc's 77 brief tracks include unexplained interruptions of Public Service Broadcasting programs and air-traffic control dispatches, snatches of otherworldly singing, and other shreds of apparently vocal sound that do indeed sound as if they come from another world -- either another planet or another dimension. Of course, given the highly unpredictable nature of radio wave behavior, it may come only from around the block or even from another continent, or from an errant baby monitor or walkie-talkie. But whether one listens with a believing or a skeptical ear, many of the sounds collected here are, at the very least, eerily fascinating.
