简介
This album marks my 5th Studio Recording and represents some of my favourite work to date. Change - written by North Easton Change began this last year for me in the form of a 69 day juice fast. Inspired from a motivational seminar with Tony Robbins in March of 2015, I went on a journey of self exploration that changed a great deal of what I had been doing for years. My first big change was looking at what I put into my body, and how I fed my mind. We are what we consume, whether that be the food we eat, or the interaction we have with the outside world. I am nowhere near where I see myself in 2-5-10 years down the road…but I have found a catalyst in that and it lives in the song CHANGE on my latest release "One of the Lucky Ones" Unstoppable - written by North Easton I'm standing on the edge of a doorway that has just been flung open wide…the wind pouring in like a tidal wave crashing against me. The view is 14,000 ft above the earth and I'm seconds away from jumping out of the perfectly good airplane. I always wanted to skydive, but it wasn’t until I met an unstoppable human being that all of that came true. My wife, my best friend, my partner in the journey and adventures ahead of me, and my confidant in the struggles behind. Her return to a higher education at 35 years of age with 5 children in the house was a feat in itself. A skydiver with 300 jumps, a lawyer, a mother, and a business savy entrepreneur made writing this song a breeze. Living out Loud - written by North Easton/Rosanne Baker Thornley Rules seem to follow us wherever we go and it seems the older I get, the more I want to break some of the simple ones that really wouldn’t hurt anybody but myself anyway. Living out loud is a statement of fact…a value of what I believe in when it comes to freedom and the way I would want my children to live…Follow your heart. It's intended as a fun song, and was co-written with my Toronto Collaborator Rosanne Baker Thornley, one of three songs on this album with her. Produced by Johnny Simmen out of Toronto. Just A Little Look - written by North Easton/Ania Ziemirska/Jay Lefevbre For 3 days straight, Canadian songwriters gathered in rooms in Ottawa as part of the Songwriters Association of Canada's "SONG WORKS" Initiative. On the 3rd day, I was coupled with Songwriter Ania Ziemirska and Producer/Songwriter Jay Lefevbre. With a tired voice from the days before, we stumbled on this 6/8 time signature and started to share in our experiences with the beauty of one look that would change everything in our thought process, and who that person would be. One of my favourite songs on the album, the original vocal recorded on day 3 is actually the one used on the album…sometimes it just comes out the way it was meant to be. When The Night Is Young - written by North Easton The funnest song on the album. Opening with a whistle track and a underlaying mandolin with some hand claps and happy harmonies. A song about the simple intimate moments between two people who let the night swallow them up whole. Conversation drifting into the countless hours ahead. "Maybe we could lay back in the pitch black, and talk about the sun" Lost In Conversation - written by North Easton Based on the conflict between people and the lost time in the challenges they endure, Lost In Conversation has definitely intrigued fans across this Country. With a strong acoustic track and an underlying passion that pulls you in close, the dynamics and space in this song grab hold and never let go. Turn - written by North Easton/Rosanne Baker Thornley Based on a photography exhibit called Reflect by professional photographer Trent Bell who went into a prison and took breathtaking pictures of convicted criminals who were asked to not only pose for the camera, but write letters to themselves as if they were younger. Moved by this exhibit, writing this song not only made sense, but fit the flow of the album perfectly. Love Like That - written by North Easton/Rosanne Baker Thornley A pop/rock track based on the everything that one would do when head over heels in love. "I'd Gladly take a bullet for you." Produced by Johnny Simmen out of Toronto. This track made it to the finals in the International Songwriting Competition out of 18000 entries across the world. One More for the Road - written by North Easton This little acoustic tune changes up the feel of the second half of the album as we leave behind the fully produced tracks and drift into a more Cat Stevens approach to production. With violin and bow on upright bass, this is a feel good track with a message of no matter what happens…everything is gonna be ok. Life - written by North Easton The black sheep on the album as it is a live recording with a grand piano performance. Chronicling life from the first breath to the last. The imagery is haunting, and the chorus equally pulls at the strings of hope and the fight to get through the longest thing we will ever know. North captures the critical moments that people live and learn from as they adventure through their own lives and his voice on this track is captivating and filled with emotion from start to finish. Here Tonight - written by North Easton A number of years ago, I fell off my path as a professional musician, and to make ends meet I took on an outdoor construction gig in the middle of february. I found myself on the rooftops of buildings shovelling snow in the blistering cold, my fingers numb, my mind tired, my heart strained by the should of's in my life. All I wanted to do was stay in bed…turn the world off for a little while. At the end of the day, this song made an impact in the decisions to follow my musical career to the level I am today. Sometimes It's Hard - written by North Easton It's no secret that the world doesn’t always hand out smiles. We have to fight the wars inside us. Dig deep my father would say…And now, as a father myself, I pass along those words and many others to my children even if sometimes it's hard. One of the Lucky Ones - written by North Easton The title track of this album and the heart of what I believe. Every journey has its bumps and bruises, scrapes along the way…it's what adds character…and the stories underneath the skin speak of what I've done. Forever I will travel on this path, no matter where it takes me, music is the driving force of my heart. After meeting incredible people like Jonathan Pitre (the butterfly child) and Jeff Scott (quadrapalegic and founder of the Live it Love it Foundation) and hearing them speak about life and how great it can be…well…if you listen to "YOUR"heart…if you look at the road you are on…you will probably see that…you are also "One of the Lucky ones”
