简介
If you read the one-sentence description, you might have started to get it. Chris Bernstorf's spoken word poetry has become something uniquely its own--at once a passionate mix of the spirit of hardcore and emotive music, the beauty and language of poetry, and the rawness spoken word is known for, Chris Bernstorf's performances have been known to elicit everything from pile-ons and stage dives to shout- and sing-a-longs to quiet understanding to terrified stares. Ever a more rapt believer in the importance of art, Bernstorf gives all of his poetry away for free via Bandcamp and Noisetrade in an effort to eliminate as many barriers as possible between people and his art. No one ever pays for it, or even gives him an email or a zip code or a shout-out, unless they decide to of their own free will. "Poetry does not belong to those who write it but to those who need it," a line from the Italian movie "Il Postino," has been a guiding and formative philosophy for Bernstorf. As honest as he can be about his flaws, his fears, his doubts, and his faith, Bernstorf's art has ultimately become an exercise in humanity, a humble offering of praise to God and a humble, honest offering of truth, beauty, hope, and encouragement to anyone willing to listen, offered freely as Christ offered Himself freely for us. Whatever you can find in it, he is grateful and wants you to have it, no record labels, marketing strategies, or hullabaloo between--if you want it, it's yours, whether you can pay for it or not. Pray for him, stage dive with him, shout with him. It's all yours.
