Jonny Shanks started Rapping at the age of only 13 years old. His biggest influences throughout his music career that he would consider built his style were N.W.A, L.L Cool J, Cypress Hill, Geto Boys, Nas, Biggie, Twista, Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Wu Tang, DJ Quik, Too Short, 2 Live Crew, Big Punn, Mob Deep, Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, Naughty by Nature, Eminem, Outkast, Fat Joe, House of Pain, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Kool Moe Dee, Ice-T, Gang Starr, Luniz, Tone Loc, Mystikal, Bone Thugs and many many more! Shanks was born and raised in Madison Wisconsin and was influenced by Hip-Hop and Ganster Rap music at a young age. He had a dream like many kid's at the time, of becoming a famous rapper! Throughout experience and dedication as well as writing rhyme after rhyme, he felt himself getting better and better at his craft. "How can you give up on something that you just keep getting better and better at? that would be like making it into the NFL and quiting before you put on the team jersey.. He knew he had a talent and a way with words when his community, family and friend's kept telling him "You keep it up and you will be going places kid" Jonny Shanks then soon learned that not only did he have a talent and was starting to create a rep in his own city, but he realized music was becoming a good escape from hardships, struggles and pain that life was giving him constantly. "Music is my release.. It's like a punching bag where I release my steam" -Jonny Shanks. Not only did he use writing and recording as a relief, he knew deep down inside that it was his calling, point blank. "Some of you want to be Doctors while others Lawyers.. Never giving up on his dreams and though fathering children, bouncing from home to home, still dedicated and devoted in making a business out of his talent, no matter what it took. Shanks dropped a few local albums throughout the years, attended many local battles and made his placement as a local artist in his city as early as 1992. He records all of his own music and has also recorded multiple other artists throughout the years.
