"Cirpica", Jerome Covington's second solo release, charts new territory. Where his freshman effort "The Eternal City" explored an urban-inspired take on ambient electronica, complete with warm washes of keyboards and minimal house drumbeats, this follow-up album simplifies the palette. Inspired by fellow guitarists-cum-producers Tim Hecker and Christian Fennesz, Jerome uses the electric guitar, awash in reverb and delay, to paint this wintery tapestry of sound. He is joined here by violist/arranger/composer extraordinaire Lev Zhurbin, who masterfully interprets Jerome's compositional shorthand.
