I’ve roamed the hallowed halls of academia as a student and teacher. I’ve stumbled onstage, read millions of notes, and waved my baton for thirsty singers yearning for the gratifying quench of music. I’ve written hundreds of papers in exchange for three, though the burden of the latter feels infinitely heavier. For a long decade, I’ve ignored the quiet call of an old friend, a call silenced by years of inner monsters and classical ghosts, a friend whose whispers have surfaced from a deep pool of impossible expectations: Songwriting.
