简介
Formed in early 2004 in South Florida, 5th gear is a modern rock band in the likes of STP, and Nickelback with a dash of Lynard Skynard. It consists of: Jason Snider-lead vocals and guitar, Clint Denny-drums and background vocals, Rhett Gordon-lead guitars, Brett Huber-bass guitar. All of whom were once parts of other popular South Florida bands. 5th gear's accomplishments include airplay on local top-rated radio station 103.1 "the buzz" as well as a coveted invitation by 103.1 to their annual battle of the bands. Our song "Together In Vain" was selected to be on the Songsalive CD sampler # 7, (www.songsalive.org), which made its debut March 16th 2005 at the SXSW music festival and conference in Austin Texas and will handed out at various other event throughout the United States, Europe and Australia. 5th gear played at the 4th annual Thirsty Melon music festival and conference, (www.thirstymelon.com), June 26th 2005, held inside the Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom amusement park which had over 200 bands on 10 different stages. 5th gear continues to perform throughout central and south Florida while selling their 4 song E.P and increasing their already-very healthy fan base. 5th gear is preparing to record a full-length album in 2005 independently. 5th gear is a member of TAXI.com and here is what their A&R people have to say about some of our songs: Crumble has a "nice vibe, ambience about the track - with a real Southern edged melancholy about the melody..." Together in Vain's line "pawned just like jewelry, buyer beware' is a strong line, that people can relate to ... Very Skynyrd like riff, that's a real a** kicker..." About Great Sun, TAXI added, "way to bring on some AC/DC styled riffage to the party! Solid wall of groove, in addition..." Shot Down "has rocking guitars and a great message underneath it all. Nice work!" As far as for the band, it was added: "Thanks for the shot of some good time, whisky soaked, Southern tinged Mainstream Rock...I'll take it as it is, with a Coors Light for a chaser." *******Press******* Rock 'n' Roll Overdrive Broward - Palm Beach New Times For those too young to remember, in the early 1970s, there was a big Southern rock renaissance. Spearheaded by the Allman Brothers, the South sprouted a viable, back-to-the-roots alternative to the major rock power centers like New York and Los Angeles. Following the Bros. were the old school R&B of Wet Willie and the surly, blues-charged rock of Lynard Skynard. These Southern bands made their mark, and much of their spirit lives on in South Florida's 5th Gear. But they commingle the earthier aspects of back then with the baleful melodic edge of more recent (Stone Temple Pilots, Nickelback). The Gear's "Together In Vain" made this year's Songsalive CD Sampler 7 and it has a 4 song self-titled EP - but it really gets revved up on stage. - Mark Keresman If you have bought a CD and enjoy it please help us out by giving us a review!
