World of Paper / City of Boom Prosperity is a way of living and thinking, and not just money or things. Poverty is a way of living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things. More importantly, prosperity is living easily and happily in the real world, whether you have money or not. Welcome to the World of Paper. The World of Paper project initially started as one song World of Paper: The Hustle, which was released as a promo at the 2004 Detroit Electronic Music Festival. While recording songs for The Vibemachine (the debut album from afra behn), it grew into more than just a song. It became an experience, one that we all deal with on a daily basis. The project stars the multi-talented singer/ songwriter Tara Thomas. She plays the role of an employed young, urban, black woman. The three songs that encompass the project follow her on a typical day in the working world. Also, featured on the project is Walt, playing the part of the Voice of Reason. His profound declarations reveal the truth about the World of Paper. The project also contains City of Boom featuring Baatin, former member of the internationally acclaimed hip-hop group Slum Village and the multi-talented singer/songwriter Pfire, who lends her operatic style vocals to complete the eclectic blend of the song. The City of Boom is a representation of Detroit. The title was taken from a classic hip-hop song created by Detroit's Most Wanted back in the 1991. The City of Boom is actually a location within this World of Paper. It's a nostalgic piece that examines the essence of "Golden-Age" Detroit hip-hop. World of Paper/ City of Boom is a concept project which examines the affects of living in a world of capitalism and how this relates to our everyday interactions with each other. It details the search we all are involved in .....the search for happiness.
