This album is a slice of exactly what was happening for Tom Acousti in 1991. He had just returned to heavy touring after a five month break during which he originated a lead role in the stage musical FAME. At the time, Tom was one of most well known soloists on the U.S. college circuit. His songs and performances were autobiographical, confessional, and raw. ‘Only’ was recorded in a single weekend using a Martin Guitar, Steinway Piano and voice. The performances were all taken 100% live in the studio. Engineer Jeff Whitehead, Dolby SR, and analog tape give this recording a smooth real sound that matches the simple live intention. The honest angst throughout the album resonated with college students to make it a cult favorite as thousands were sold from the stage.
