简介
David Spalvieri-Kruse began writing songs as Deep Waters in 2009. The first songs were anchored in piano driven structures enriched with synthesizer arrangements, electronic loops, ambient delay, and tremors of reverb. In 2011, a self-titled full length LP inspired by periods of time living in Kalamazoo, MI and Machias, ME was released by the Diamond Wave Press. The album’s tone was winter-inspired with lyrics focusing on the passing of time, nature reverence, and personal revelation. New explorations starting in 2012 shifted into fully-textured guitar songs backed by a full band. After releasing his first Deep Waters LP he felt his internal muse restless about continuing down the keyboard path. After an experimental deliberation period, he set his synthesizer and piano to the side and found new inspiration in the acoustic guitar. In the winter of 2013 (after a lot of practicing) he started writing his first new songs. A couple of months later his car radio broke and instead of repairing it he chose to turn solo driving time into singing practice. After writing the raw material Tyler Bradley, Jeremy Ruggles, Gerren Young, and Sarah Wallsten helped flesh out the songs. A dedicated amount of focus on lyrics, harmonies, guitar interplay, and rhythm influenced the sound and style of the new EP, "Visions in Flame". The six song EP will be housed in handmade 20-page photo books. From the first LP, to the new EP, a grounded focus in a spiritual reverence for the natural world with lyrics bent on an ecstatic-future vision have intertwined the former and present styles as part of one body and vision.
