The compositions performed on this album were developed from a series of improvisations conceived in the summer of 2012. The improvisations were developed into the form they are in now and Nigel has kept them simple and short with plenty of spaces and gaps to allow time for contemplation. Each piece has been created to evoke both calm & passion with an underlying stillness in the listener. This music has been inspired by specific places, people, events, activities and feelings that Nigel has encountered and each composition have been titled accordingly. The title of the Album is Unfinished Spring (Unfinished in so far as it is an adventure that has just begun and will be ongoing - Spring representing a time of new growth) The title track Unfinished Spring finishes on the 5 chord with the intention of the piece sounding harmonically unresolved and unfinished leaving an opportunity for potential. There are other pieces that also suggest incompleteness in this body of work.
