简介
"Contained in banks of eclecticism, wonderful lyrics and melodies flow into a broad but gentle stream of folk/pop music. Each tune seems to be experienced not only with the ears, but also in a subtler, intrinsic way. If "Elemental" was a wine, you could taste the earth from which it grew". Christian Rothmund / Nuernberger Zeitung 09/12/2005 "Not only are Susie Boehm's songs unmistakably in the tradition of great women songwriters like Carol King, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman or Alanis Morrisette, but the voice of the California born singer has it's own timber. It also has that certain quality of raising goosebumps. Together with American producer Paul Mirkovich, she recorded 12 self-penned songs you can let yourself fall into. And most of them should be future classics. " Peter Volker / Dopplepunkt September 2005 ____ Los Angeles born singer/songwriter Susie Boehm began writing songs at the age of 12 and performing in coffee houses at 16. Classically trained on piano, she taught herself to play guitar because it gave her freedom from the structure of her musical background. She sang on street corners for change in Santa Cruz, sang underage in bars in Westwood, worked sporadically as a background singer doing sessions "for people it was painful to hear" and eventually wound up on Maui as part of a duo called "The Dames". The CD they released in late 1993 garnered 2 singles, gave them the opportunity to open for bands such as "Hootie and the Blowfish" and "The Doobie Brothers" and took them to Europe, where Susie met the man who became her husband. They married in 1997 and had a daughter in 1998. After a 3 year baby break, Susie began writing again and placed 5 songs on 3 episodes of the NBC prime-time drama "Providence". She teamed with her brother, Paul Mirkovich, former Musical Director for Cher and currently Musical Director and band leader for the show "Rock Star: INXS", in the creation of "Elemental". The disc was recorded over the course of a year both in Los Angeles and in Nuernberg, Germany where Susie currently lives. "I don't like sour kraut or anything pickled, except for daikon. I love the ocean unconditionally as I do my daughter. I only really like movies that have happy endings. I read the same book over and over again at night to help me sleep; I am not a good sleeper. I can't tolerate intolerance. I love Iron Chef, language, the colors of the water around Mykonos, my family and cold green grapes." "The music I write just comes through me. It always has. I don't think about it too much, just pick up the guitar or sit down at the piano and it comes or it doesn't. I don't work on it, I try not to pre-edit. It just comes like a gift. It's all about being honest. I don't ever want to be contrived or cutesy or crafty or clever. I just want to say something in the same way I would have a conversation - with meter." "Elemental is an audio slice of myself. Not every word is an absolute; not every situation is exactly what happened to me. But the core of it is based on how I really truly feel about things. In it's cross-genre way, it tells you exactly what I think and it's cross-genre nature is also very much what I am." "I hope you enjoy my music. Oh, please buy my CD so I can make another one. Thanks," Susie
