简介
I started writing songs around 1960 and had a few under my belt when a music publishing company invited submissions via a newspaper competition for young songwriters in an effort to nurture local talent. Selected as part of a small workshop group, we had to come up with new songs each month, so during the mid sixties, most of these songs were created. I was young and relatively inexperienced, a young guy of 18, and most situations and feelings were from my imagination. Strangely, as the years progressed, I pretty well went through most of the experiences in some form or other. Now, some 50 years later, as I look back, I see successive new waves of 18 year olds coming out. It seems that life is cyclical and we as humans, seem to go through the same desires, life experiences and tumult as we make our progress through life. This collection sat around in my head for over 45 years and with the encouragement of my wife Jeannie, I have set about the project of recording and giving life to these new songs created during the 1960's. The title song Back To Basics is a look back on the life and times of my generation, The Baby Boomers. An additional song "Adagio Dancer" is a tribute to my father who toured Europe before World War 2 with his dance troupe. We were blessed to find a whole series of his show photos to make up a montage of his early life and I wrote the song to accompany the photo series. The album was recorded with a great bunch of studio musicians and back up singers.
