简介

Many years ago a young man found music. Childhood in Pennsylvania’s Chestnut Hill led young Ross Matico to the Water Tower Recreation Center, where the week’s highlight was a show featuring local talent of all kinds. In the age of music where Doo Wop was beginning to blossom, Ross knew he had to be on that stage serenading the guests of honor (the local Nuns) with hits such as “Answer Me, Oh My Love” by Nat King Cole. Bud attended Germantown Highschool, where he began instruction under a formally trained Opera Singer. He formed a doo-wop group that would frequent the South Philly musical epicenter, 6th and Snyder Avenue area. It was there that he joined Lenny and The Rocks as one of the Rocks. Lenny taught the group how to sing harmony which led to singing with the likes of Chubby Checker and Charlie Gracie to name a few- under the biggest record label going at the time, Cameo Parkway. This would lead to a business relationship later on in his career. Buddy Ross and the Delmars where Bud was a singer and songwriter was formed. The group metamorphasized into several groups from there becoming Buddy and The Ascensions, and finally Buddy and the Asylum featuring their first female drummer, Marlene Primavera. With the sweet taste of success still fresh, Bud formed Mean Bag Productions and produced four groups under that label, and thus Northern Soul, the prequel to Motown was born. “Prove yourself a lady” sung by James Bounty. This song would go on to be heavily played for years in England at Northern Soul events. Still heavily involved in both writing and production, Bud was actively expanding his talents and reach in the musical field. Some years later Bernie Lowe, original owner of Cameo Parkway formed Rice Mills Productions and Bud was off again producing and writing songs for Bernie Lowe for the next two years. Bud later went on to meet Mike Nise, and formed Music Box Magazine to enhance the growing and changing music scene in Philadelphia. At the dawn of the disco era, Bud went back into songwriting and wrote “#1 DJ” for the group Goody Goody, on Atlantic Records. At this same time Bud was producing David Morris for Buddah Records, the title track was Midnight Lady. Bud was Grammy nominated for Fania All Star's album "Crossover". After nearly three decades in the music business, his passion for music took a back seat to the other half of the American dream, his beloved wife and children. Bud decided to venture back into the world of automotive sales. He would spend the next few decades becoming a recognized Mark of Excellence salesperson in the General Motors, Cadillac salesforce.
