简介
Pete List (New York City) is well-known in the tribal bellydance world as a producer, musician, and human beatboxer. After performing for years as an integral part of the bands Djinn & Beatbox Guitar, Pete is re-exploring his solo career, creating live loops of human beatbox and shahi baaja, an Indian electric instrument, to build textures and create songs that embody the sound and power of a full band. Pete has produced multiple DVD soundtracks, and eight albums including the recent "A Charming Demise". With Beatbox Baaja, Pete manages to combine his beatboxing, a seemingly effortless flow of beat and breath on the mic, with the soothing and lyrical sounds of the shahi baaja, a tonality somewhere between the kanoon and the sitar, to create a traditional sensibility with a modern aesthetic. This recording simultaneously represents a diversity of musical influences from Indian and Arabic, to distinctly American. Pete is an eclectic and experimental artist , and the sole executor of this unique and brilliant fusion. This recording also features the track Beatbox Bellydance Drum Solo, a traditionally structured drum solo combining Arabic and modern rhythms presented solely through mouth percussion.
