简介
"I am happiest sitting on a beach, guitar-in-hand, strumming out a new song." Growing up on the beaches of Vancouver Island lends a West Coast vibe to Kylee Epp’s music. She blends her hippie roots with sassy bubblegum pop and tops it all off with a dash of cowboy, creating a unique sound that’s all her own. Kylee was born and raised in the small town of Qualicum Beach. She found her voice at an early age and her parents were proud. They requested performances at their dinner parties and at the community BBQ on Family Day. Soon Kylee was known throughout the small town as the ‘little singer girl’ who belted out the national anthem at school assemblies, local hockey games and baseball tournaments. As part of a fundraiser in middle school, Kylee was invited to record a song in a professional studio. It was then that she fell in love with music. Immediately afterwards she began writing songs and teaching herself to play the guitar. Kylee recorded her first demo at age 13. By 15 she had put a band together and was playing the local bar circuit. Kylee spent the next eight years writing, composing, and honing her craft. She toured as a background vocalist and acoustic guitar player for Universal/604 Records recording artist Jessie Farrell, opening for Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Sugarland, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and Miranda Lambert, to name just a few. She appeared in two of Farrell’s music videos: “Let’s Talk About Love” and “Fell Right into You”. She traveled with her own band through Eastern Europe and South Asia playing in clubs, concert halls, stadiums, and even at a palace to perform for the king and queen of Malaysia! Last year, Kylee was awarded Runner-up in the Country 107.1FM “Big Break Contest” presented by County 107.1FM and the BC Country Music Association. Kylee passionately immerses herself in all aspects of the music-making process. From writing, composing, performing and recording, she is continually exploring and evolving her sound – drawing inspiration from her experiences. Always being eager to learn and grow, Kylee often joins forces with other talented musicians, writers, and producers. She has been traveling back and forth to Nashville where she has had the opportunity to work with esteemed songwriters like Steven Lee Olsen, Patricia Conroy, and Tim Taylor. Kylee creates songs that her audience can relate to, songs they can sing along with and can’t help but move to. With the support of FACTOR, Kylee teamed up with producer John Ellis (Doc Walker, Tara Oram, Ridley Bent) this past April to recored a 6 song EP. Her first single “Be Your Girl” has been release to radio across Canada and is now available on iTunes and the video can be seen on CMT Canada! The bright and charming country-pop artist makes music with her heart wide open. Her passion and enthusiasm ring true through sweet vocals and fresh sounds. In September 2012, Kylee was honoured with an invitation to perform at the CCMA New Artists Showcase in Saskatoon, SK. Kylee also performed at the CCMA FanFest show alongside top country artists such as Jason Blaine, Chad Brownlee, and Michelle Wright after winning the most votes by fans in the National CCMA FanFest Contest. This October, Kylee was nominated for four BC Country Music Awards: FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR, SOCAN SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR, RAY MCAULEY HORIZON AWARD and WEBSITE OF THE YEAR. In December, Kylee was the winner of the RAY MCAULEY HORIZON AWARD at the BCCMA Awards show held in Vancouver, BC. "Every time I step on stage I feel so fortunate that this is what I get to do for a living. There is nothing else in the world I would rather be doing."
