A Mother’s Love When I was young, I feared ever having children with disabilities. Now I have several and wouldn’t trade it. They have taught me to see life in a whole new way and appreciate even the little things. Is it hard? At times, absolutely yes. But it is so worth it. If There are many examples of great women who have been diligent and strong in the gospel. One of the most influential examples to me is that of my own mother. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her unwavering faith. Through her example, one of the great things she taught me was to seek Heavenly Father’s help, especially in hard times. There have been times in my life I don’t think I would have made it through without it. Blowing Her Kisses My grandmother was an amazing example of love and kindness. One of my fondest memories is that of her always blowing kisses: kisses when we came, kisses when we left, kisses just to blow a kiss across the room. I love and miss her. Let Go Letting go of your children can sometimes be pretty tough. One time as I watched my daughter struggling, I wanted so bad to take her out of the situation, but felt strongly I shouldn’t. The only way I was able to “let go” at that time was the fact that I knew Heavenly Father was watching out for her and knew exactly what she needed to grow, and He would catch her if she fell. In God, There Is Peace It is hard to go through trials, but I think it is even harder to see one of your own children struggle. I also know that trials don’t last forever, especially when we turn to Heavenly Father. The sun will shine once again. One by One I know that our Father in Heaven loves us individually. You can see it in the way He lived his life, the way He answers prayers, and even the way He has organized His church. A special witness of this came to me one time when I was having a particularly hard day and was struggling with feeling loved. I prayed that somehow I could feel God’s love once again. That night, I found a pot of beautiful red tulips sitting on my porch. There was no note, nothing to let me know who had left them, until suddenly, I had an overwhelming feeling of pure love come over me and I knew who had truly sent them. In the Pages These beautiful lyrics were written by my mother for my oldest brother’s mission farewell. These words still touch me today as I strive to raise my children unto the Lord that they may one day serve Him too. Generations I will be eternally grateful for my ancestors who had the strength, both spiritually and physically, to bring the gospel into their lives. They have literally changed eternity for generations to come. I am grateful and admire those who are now bringing the gospel into their lives. The impact they will have is so far reaching. In That Moment Nature can help inspire or bring perfect moments in time when we can see or feel God’s love. These moments are so precious and help me keep going through life. But it seems that motherhood, even with all its struggles, can bring these moments more often and stronger than anything else. Like My Mother As I look back at my own mother, those moments that stand out to me are the simple, consistent times that touched my heart and gave me a desire to be just like her. One particular moment that touched me deeply was when I walked by my mother’s room and heard her praying for her children. She had just been diagnosed with cancer, and the prognosis was not good. But she wasn’t pleading for herself or her life; she was pleading for her children. I’ve always said if I could be even half the mother she was, I would be grateful. I am thankful for miracles from heaven that allow her to still be with us today.
