Valerio Maina lives in an obscure and bizarre place between melodically-inclined techno to dancefloor steampunk grooves, surrounded by Casilina's freaks of the night and Mario Bava 's characters. He describes himself essentially as a music addicted and as a geeky audio softwares obsessed. Heavy Mental is his personal exploration into melodically-inclined electronica, crossover and poetry that places the artist's work in a kind of post-leftfield segment of modern electronic production. The album starts with the ambient dreamy indie "Heavy Mental", passes through the warp minded "Amore invisibile" and the metal circus called "Piccolo incubo prima di addormentarsi" Then dives into the ethereal dissonances of Cenere and the steampunk electro vocoder of P. Eldritch. Finally discloses a warmly techno oniric place called "Un freddo riverbero" and "Settembre", a small photograph of Rome covered by leaves. "this album was produced in the period between the summer of 2011 until that dicember; was a moment of my life far away to dancefloor, i can say an introspective moment... I had the chance to use every equipment present in the studio (Rumore Indipendente); with Luca we were searching a way beetween our electronic roots, acoustical sound and words, poetry i can say, in italian in order to be more expressive. We also choose to have non professional singer, but friends with wich we could have a nice atmosphere during recordings" Valerio The album was entirely produced, mixed and mastered with Luca Antonioli at Rumore Indipendente studio (Rome).
